According to the proposed changes outlined in the Australian Federal Budget, Australians living overseas may be considered Australian Tax Residents if they spend more than 44 days in Australia per year and own a property back home (A “factor test” will be applied to determine tax residency). 

We are unsure if and when these proposed changes will take place but experts believe it may be some time in the next year.
